Notable Burials

First Interment

Arthur Niles - S2, U.S. Navy, World War II

Arthur Niles died September 27, 1996 at the age of 72. He was the first interment at SWVMC on September 30, 1996. His site can be located in Section I, Grave 1.

World War I Veterans

Peter Dandos - PVT, U.S. Army, World War I

Born January 7, 1897 on the Island of Crete, State of Greece. He immigrated to the United States and served in the Army as a PVT from 1917 to 1919 in France. Peter Dandos passed away on March 14, 2003 at the age of 106 years of age. His site can be located in Section F, Grave 183.

Henry L. Howard - CPL, U.S. Army, World War I

Born March 20, 1893, Howard was one of 122,215 Wisconsinites who served during World War I. Henry Howard served in the cavalry, stationed for a time in the Philippines.

Henry Howard died March 19, 1973 at the age of 79. His remains were interred at SWVMC after 32 years. His site can be located in Section C-E, Grave 11.

George Lagerlof - PFC, U.S. Army, World War I

Inducted into the military at the age of 23 he served as a PFC in Battery D 72 nd Artillery CAC. Born April 4, 1895, George Lagerlof died August 16, 1984 at the age of 89. The site of his “Memorial Marker” is Section C-N, Grave 22.

Harry A. Stone - F2, U.S. Navy, World War I

Harry A. Stone died May 20, 2001 at the age of 101. His site can be located in Section C-B, Grave 90.
