Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs seeking award nominations
Awards to be presented during department Stakeholder Conference
(MADISON) – The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is seeking nominations for its WDVA 2009 Annual Veterans Awards, to be presented during a Veterans Stakeholders’ Conference beginning at 10:00 a.m. on April 2, 2010 in Madison, at WDVA headquarters in the Dr. Richard H. Zeitlin Education Center on 2nd floor.
The awards are part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to underscore its commitment to recognizing those who advocate for and serve Wisconsin veterans.
WDVA Veterans Awards recognize Wisconsin veterans and citizens who have provided exceptional service for Wisconsin’s veterans. The 2009 awards recipients will be selected from among all nominations received, in six categories: Veterans Advocate of the Year; “Mission: Welcome Home” Supporter of the Year; Iron Mike, a Government Officials’ Service to Veterans Award; County Veterans Service Officer of the Year; Veterans Service Officer of the Year; and, Veterans’ Volunteer of the Year Award. Nominations for the awards for actions and achievements during the period of January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 must be submitted by February 15, 2010.
WDVA selects the recipients from nominations submitted by individuals (including family members of the nominee), veterans’ service and other organizations, county veterans service officers, and fellow veterans.
Nominations for the awards must be completed and submitted to WDVA by close of business February 15, 2010 using WDVA Form 0140. Access it on WDVA’s Forms webpage, at www.WisVets.com/Forms#WDVA0140.
