Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs to host Veterans Day Ceremony at King
“Honoring All Who Served”

(MADISON) – The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs will host Veterans Day programs at the state veterans memorial cemeteries at King, Spooner, and Union Grove, with the theme “Honoring All Who Served.”

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King will host its 2007 Veterans Day program on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2007, in the Marden Memorial Center at 10:30 a.m. Master of Ceremonies for the program will be Steve Stead of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. The Waupaca High School Choir, under the direction of Kristen Sporakowski, will provide patriotic musical selections for the occasion. Waupaca High School Band students will sound Taps and echo. The Wisconsin Veterans Home is located at N2665 County Road QQ in King, just two miles south of the City of Waupaca, on U.S. Highway 10, midway between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Featured speaker for the occasion will be Peter J. Moran, Chairman of the Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs. He is a decorated veteran, and served as commander of the U. S. Army 205th Ammunitions Platoon in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. His many military decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Pete and his wife, Mavis, live in Superior.

“We look forward to many of our friends and neighbors attending this year’s program. Our current military personnel and military veterans serve to protect all that we hold dear. This Veterans Day program is dedicated to Honoring All Who Served.’ Colonel Moran’s presence adds honor and dignity to this occasion,” Veterans Home Commandant Bill Crowley stated.

WDVA will also be hosting Veterans Day ceremonies at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Union Grove, at 11:00 a.m., and at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, at 1:00 p.m.

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum, located at 30 W. Mifflin St. on the Capitol Square in Madison, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on November 11.
