Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs to host Veterans Day Ceremonies
Events will feature theme "Honoring All Who Served"
(MADISON) – The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) announces Veterans Day ceremonies to be held as part of various commemorative ceremonies statewide.
"The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs encourages Wisconsin citizens to honor veterans and those currently serving by 'Honoring All Who Served,'" said Acting Secretary William Kloster.
Ceremonies being conducted at Wisconsin's Veterans Memorial cemeteries include:
Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. – Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery – Marden Center of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. – Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery – Union Grove.
Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. – Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery – Spooner.
There will also be a Veterans Day ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in the State Capitol Rotunda in Madison, hosted by the Madison Veterans Council. A concert by VFW Band 1318 will precede the program. Speakers will include: Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton; U.S. Senator Russ Feingold; U.S. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin; WDVA Public Affairs Director Andrew Schuster; and Dr. Michael McBride, Major in the United States Army Reserve.
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum will be open on Veterans Day from Noon to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is located at 30 West Mifflin Street on the Capitol Square in downtown Madison.
